Tabloid

The small format for newspapers

The majority of dailies, weeklies and monthly newspapers in Austria draws on this format because it is easy to handle and economic in its consumption of paper. A rule for formats and their names was formed in 1973 out of a large number of different formats. DIN 16604 brought order to the excessive diversity. But everything develops further and thus the tabloid format used by us, at 225 x 300 mm in a closed state, is even a bit easier to use than defined in this standard.
